Gil Reyes's Biography

Gil Reyes holds a university degree in Business Administration, specialized in Marketing and Finance from Austin Community College, Texas, USA, and is a certified bilingual speaker (English-Spanish) from the Alpha Learning Institute in Puerto Cabello, Carabobo State. He is a Certified Professional Broadcaster (No. 17877), having hosted a sports show on Radio Puerto Cabello for 25 years (1991–2016).

He got his start in baseball in December 1972, at age 12, with the organization "Criollitos de Venezuela," spending 25 years as a player, scorer, umpire, coach, and administrator. On December 12, 1973, he formally began working as an official scorer in Punto Fijo, Falcón State.

Career as an Official Scorer

1975: Official Scorer at the national youth tournament of the Venezuelan Baseball Federation (FVB), held in Coro, Falcón State.
1978: Championship-winning Manager, leading Venezuela at the 1st International Youth Baseball Series in Bachaquero.
1979: Official Scorer at the FVB's Class A tournament in Punto Fijo, Falcón State.
1982 (May–August): Official Scorer for the Centro Occidental Professional Baseball League in Coro.
1986–2020: Official Scorer for the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) across 34 seasons.

International Experience

1995: South American Games in Valencia.
1998: Caribbean Series in Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui State.
2006: Caribbean Series in Valencia, Carabobo State, and Maracay, Aragua State.

Technical and Academic Contributions

Advisor on the Spanish-language edition of the Baseball Rulebook, edited by Bruno Egloff across its five editions.
Co-founder and two-term President of the Venezuelan Association of Professional Baseball Scorers (ASOVEAPRO).
Latin America Vice President and Venezuela Director of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR).
Before founding the Academy, he worked as an international baseball rules lecturer, hired by the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, and New York Yankees to train coaches, players, and staff on the effective application of official rules.
Has taught more than 100 in-person scoring courses, training around 3,500 professionals.
